How to dry marijuana buds successfully?

New cannabis growers may think that the heaviest job is growing, but harvesting, trimming, drying, and curing the buds is key and a very important process for enjoying the product at its best. Sometimes the curing of marijuana is not done since the impatience of the grower can be high and the desire to taste the flowers is urging. Ideally, take the time to dry and cure your buds.

There are several sophisticated methods for drying marijuana flowers, but the easiest way to do this is possibly the most effective. The drying and curing process begins from the moment the cannabis plant is harvested. Although it is a slow process, it is necessary to pay attention and that the drying does not last an amount of time in which fungi or mold can be generated. But the first thing is to harvest the plant.

It is ideal to cut branches of more or less 30 cm. The following will be the trimming of the unwanted leaves and finally, hanging the branches from hangers or ropes. For better drying, the branches should be upside down.

One of the most important factors to consider during drying is the storage room and that it has the correct levels of temperature and humidity. The drying room should be between 15 to 20 degrees of temperature and humidity should be in a range of 45-55%. A small fan can be used to circulate air as long as it does not point directly at the branches.

How to curate buds?

Buds should be dry in a period of 5 to 9 days, depending on the climatic factors of the drying room. Once the buds are dry, they must be removed from the branches and stored in glass jars, such as those used for jams or pickles.

Containers must be 75% full. Make sure that the lids are tightly closed. The jars should be stored in cool, dark rooms with a temperature of 20 degrees and a humidity level of 60-65%.

Ideally, open the containers several times a day for the first week for a few minutes to allow the marijuana to breathe. This action renovates the oxygen in the jars and allows more moisture to escape. After a week, the jars need to be opened only once every other day. In most cases, 2-3 weeks of curing is enough to significantly improve the quality and potency of the weed.

Some buds can be tested before the total drying and curing process is complete, but the difference is abysmal. The growing and harvesting work can be exponentially better if we give it time and are patient.
